The eastern suburbs have a low crime rate and excellent public schools. The Fayetteville Manlius public school system is the #1 school in Onondaga county according to the U.S News and world report and the FM high school is considered one of the best public high schools in the nation.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Fayetteville includes many public parks and playgrounds. Many of the neighborhoods of Fayetteville are adjacent to Green Lakes State Park, which includes walking trails. This includes the neighborhoods of Golden Heights and Brookside.

Within two miles of the park is the Fayetteville Town Center, offering numerous national chain restaurants and retail shopping.
