Syracuse

Syracuse is a wonderful place to live. Located in the heart of central New York, Syracuse is more affordable than other major US metro areas, making it a popular choice for everyone from young families to retirees. US News and World Report recently ranked Syracuse as one of the top 10 affordable places to retire, estimated at just 75 dollars per day.

The city offers low housing prices, and is home to numerous cultural events such as Taste of Syracuse, the Syracuse jazz festival, and the Syracuse International Film Festival. The city is broken up into 26 official neighborhoods, each with their own character.

University Hill is a residential area that lies directly east of Syracuse University. Crouse Hospital, Upstate University Hospital and the Syracuse VA medical center are all located in the university area.

The Meadowbrook neighborhood of Syracuse is located in the southeastern corner of the city. The neighborhood is primarily residential, and is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the city. Meadowbrook has been referred to as “the suburbs in the city”. I can see why, with 81 percent of the housing being owner-occupied. From here, it’s a quick commute to LeMoyne College, area hospitals, and there are many homes to choose from.

Whatever neighborhood you choose in Syracuse, I’m sure you’ll feel right at home. And with education and medical services being Syracuse’s largest employers, it’s easy to see why home prices remain steady.
